Lake St. Clair
The mayfly hatch was peaking on Lake St. Clair. The smallmouth action was tough with water temperatures in the 60s. A few fish were caught in Anchor Bay and off the mile roads near St. Clair Shores. Catfish, including some big ones, have been caught in front of the Clinton River Spillway. A few perch have been caught in Anchor Bay, too.

Lake Orion
Fishing has been pretty good around Lake Orion. Bluegills and a few crappies have been caught in Prince Lake and East and West Graham Lakes, but the weeds are really starting to grow. Most of the larger fish have moved off the beds and into deeper water and weeds. The bass bite has been very good on Lake Orion. Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits zipped along the weeds have taken fish.

Luna Pier Area
Walleye fishing slowed on Lake Erie after the storms stirred up the lake and made it fairly muddy. Very few limits have been reported, but a couple were taken off Stony Point on crawler harnesses or crankbaits fished in 24 feet of water, and near the Banana Dike where the muddy water met the clear water.

SOUTHWESTERN LP
Paw Paw Area
Bass fishing has been very good on Paw Paw Lake. Anglers report catching good numbers of both smallmouths and largemouths. A few bluegills are still bedding in 5 feet of water on Paw Paw. A few decent pike have been caught on Van Auken Lake. Try drifting a large sucker or chub along the weeds. The St. Joseph River is producing some decent walleyes. One angler caught a 40-pound catfish last week on 6-pound test line while walleye fishing.

Kalamazoo Area
Panfish have provided the best action. Live bait, such as red worms, have been great for catching good numbers of bluegill on inland lakes as well as bayous off of the Grand and Kalamazoo rivers. Bass and catfish have been biting in the rivers.

Grand Rapids Area
Those fishing down near the mouth of the Grand River reported catching skamania steelhead last week so the fish should be up to Grand Rapids by now. Boat anglers were getting some nice walleye on crawlers and leeches. Bluegills can still be found in the bayous.

CENTRAL LP
Saginaw Bay Area
Walleye fishing remains good on Lake Huron’s Saginaw Bay. The warmer temps are starting to move the fish to deeper water. Good reports have been coming from those fishing in 15 to 22 feet of water. Crawlers, spoons and bodybaits are all producing limit catches. Most of the fish have been perfect size for eating but there have been quite a few lunkers caught in the last couple of weeks.

Lansing Area
The smallmouth bass bite on the Grand River has been good at the North Lansing Dam. A minnow fished under a bobber will almost guarantee a bite. Fish were also caught at the Smithville Dam in Eaton Rapids and at Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge. Some nice channel cats have been caught above the North Lansing Dam.

Ludington Area
Decent numbers of chinook and lake trout are being caught in Lake Michigan in 110 to 200 feet of water. The numbers were down but some bigger chinook were caught. Down at Pentwater, boats trolling 30 to 70 feet down in 80 to 150 feet of water reported catching chinook, steelhead and coho on spoons and meat rigs. On Pentwater Lake, anglers fishing from Longbridge Road caught sunfish, smallmouth bass, rock bass and brown bullhead.

Caseville Area
Walleye fishing has been good on Lake Huron when the wind allows anglers to get out. A good bite has been reported by those fishing at the Slot, northeast of Heisterman Island, off the buoy at Sand Point, and off Oak Point. Bass and walleyes are hitting off the breakwall. The local chamber of commerce is holding a walleye tournament through July 15. Sign-up at Walsh Gun and Tackle.

Harbor Beach Area
Lake trout are hitting in Lake Huron straight out and north of the harbor in 80 to 120 feet of water. Dodgers and Spin-N-Glos fished just off the bottom or spoons fished 10 to 50 feet off the bottom have caught fish. A few salmon and steelhead have been caught in the top 60 feet of 100 feet of water. A few walleye were caught close to shore on Hot-N-Tots and nightcrawlers.

NORTHWESTERN LP
Frankfort Area
Most anglers on Lake Michigan are heading straight out or north to the point. Chinook and steelhead were hitting orange spoons in the top 20 feet of water. The hot spoon for chinook was the Blue Dolphin, Wonder Bread, Kevorkian or green Skinny Jeans. Lake trout were hitting spoons 60 to 90 feet fished down.

Manistee Area
Surface temperature readings were about 55 degrees on Lake Michigan last week. A handful of chinook, lake trout and steelhead were caught on spoons in 120 to 200 feet of water. A few anglers caught brown trout when trolling in the basin.

Wellston Area
The hex hatch is on and anglers are catching brown trout at night on the upper Manistee River, Bear Creek, Little Manistee River, Big Sable Rover and Pine River. A few skamania steelhead are hitting at Tippy Dam. Bass, walleye and pike have been caught in the backwaters above Tippy Dam.

Mio Area
Hexes are hatching and anglers report a very good brown trout bite on the Au Sable River when fishing at night.

Houghton Lake Area
Walleye are still being caught in Houghton Lake. Anglers are using crankbaits, Hot-N-Tot’s, flicker shad, or a harness with crawlers or leeches. Bass anglers are still taking fish, mostly largemouth. Crappie were hitting in 10 to 12 feet of water and bluegill action was starting to pick up. Try the weedbeds in 10 feet of water.

Rogers City Area
Lake trout fishing continues to be very good on Lake Huron with limit catches reported. Anglers have to search a little more as the wind keeps changing the water temperature. Chinook salmon were caught 25 to 50 feet down in 65 to 90 feet of water. Good colors were green, blue, chartreuse or glow fished early and late. Atlantic salmon were hitting in the top 15 to 25 feet of water

EASTERN UP
Pickford Area
Walleyes are biting in Lake Huron’s Cedarville Bay between Connors Point and Little La Salle Island. The best action has been in the mornings on orange and chartreuse deep-running crankbaits fished in 12 feet of water. Largemouth bass were hitting bronze crankbaits fished near structure. Shore fishing was good at the bridge on Hill Island Road where sunfish and rock bass were caught on worms. Walleyes are also hitting crawlers in Munuscong Bay.

Curtis Area
Walleye fishing remains good on Big and South Manistique Lakes. A few perch are hitting on Big and bluegills are still in the shallows on South Manistique.

CENTRAL UP
Marquette Area
Boat anglers targeting coho in Lake Superior are catching fish in the lower harbor near the Green Can, towards the Carp River, and at the mouth of the Chocolay River in 50 to 60 feet of water. Brown trout were also caught. Lake trout are hitting at the White Rocks and the Sand Hole.

Escanaba Area
A good walleye bite has been reported by anglers fishing off the mouth of the Whitefish River in Little Bay de Noc. Crawlers trolled in 12 to 16 feet of water have produced a good bite. Fish have also been caught off the Escanaba River and near the Black Bottom in 14 to 22 feet of water, though many fish were undersize.

WESTERN UP
Bergland Area
The bite has improved on Lake Gogebic. Mainly the perch bite has picked up with anglers boating some nice fish. Those working weeds and weed edges in 9 to 12 of water reported good action on crawlers. Smallmouth action has also improved. Work the hard-bottom areas and weed edges for smallies. Walleye action remains a little slow with the better reports coming from anglers using crawlers and leeches in 12 to 18 feet of water and crawlers over the mud flats.

Iron River Area
A few small walleyes have been caught on Lac View Desert by anglers targeting perch with jigs in 8 to 15 feet of water. The deeper holes are being targeted for walleye and a few legal size fish have been caught. Muskie anglers had limited success but the pike were quite active and chasing muskie lures. Largemouth bass were found on the weeds in shallow waters with soft plastics or crankbaits0. Fewer bluegills and sunfish were on the beds as the fish are moving to deeper water. Perch and crappies were found in 8 feet of water or deeper.
