I was reflecting about life and the amazing world today, and had a serious reality check. I realized I live in a different world than a lot of people.
Let me go back a few days to what started this.
I was stopping in for a few minutes to say hi to someone very close to me. Within about 1 minute she said “have you seen the news?” Now anyone that knows me, knows the answer to that is no. I do not watch, follow, or care about “the news”.
So I said no. Then was immediately bombarded with how horrible the world was, and all the bad things happening in our country.
I love this person, but I was not interested in the current conversation and just stood up and left.
This is their world. Not mine.
So let me fill you in a little about my reality. I had just picked up one of my awesome teenage daughters and her fun to hangout with boyfriend. We were on our way to spend a weekend at the lake fishing, kayaking, and general lake shenanigans.
Next stop was to pick up my wife and our sheep dogs. Costco for some groceries then off to the lake.
At the lake we unloaded the food into our houseboat and spent the afternoon fishing the docks and cooking with the rest of our friends on the dock.
Next am at 4:00 i woke up and decided to fish. Tried to wake up one of the kids but they opted out. Walked out and the neighbor was on his way to his bass boat. I jumped in and we fished.
We got back just in time for a huge breakfast made by my wife and kids. Then we all loaded up and went tubing for a few hours.
Back to the docks for a group dinner. Then put out the lights for some night fishing.
Next day was about the same, but i didn’t get out of bed till around 7:00 because we sat in bed watching a lightning show listening to the rain.
This is my reality. It’s all i know. So next time you want to fill someone in on how bad the world is, maybe you should go out and see the real world before opening your mouth.
