What to do with laptop while backpacking (2 nights) near Bishop, CA? [x-posted to r/WildernessBackpacking]

Hi everyone,

I've been worrying about what to do with my laptop computer while I'm in the backcountry over Bishop Pass, in the Sierra for a couple of nights this August. I'll be in the Bay Area working before the trip, so I need to have the computer with me.

Options: 1. turn it off, put in a styrofoam cooler or insulated bag WITHOUT ice, stick in trunk; 2. store with a hotel front desk for a couple days; 3. try to store in the SF airport for about 10 days (where we will start and end our entire trip) 4. other options I've not thought of?

All suggestions and anecdotes appreciated!
