A new series from avalanche safety equipment manufacturer Backcountry Access offers solid information that will help keep you safe in avalanche terrain. Today, we’re sharing a video about a critical element of avalanche safety when things have gone wrong: transceiver searching.
Of course, a video doesn’t replace classroom training and fieldwork. If you plan to travel in avalanche terrain, take an Avi 1 course.
But for those who might be a little rusty, it’s good to brush up now. Remember the four phases of the transceiver search: the signal search, coarse search, fine search, and pinpointing (probing). For those in the Northern Hemisphere, winter is coming.
