Interesting hikes in the French alps?

I am looking for tips on interesting hikes (2/3 days) in and around the French alps at the end of May. I was planning to do the Grand Balcon (opposite side of the mont blanc massive) with a friend, but I am afraid that there will be too much snow on the route for us to comfortably hike in. We do not mind a bit of snow but we are not experienced snow hiker (no piolet or snow shoe experience at least).

So I am curious do you guys have any recomondation for a hike at the end of May in this area?
