Mixing a rock climbing haul bag as a hikers pack?

So for a little background.... Im a rock scrambler and a climber. Intermediate boulderer, and novice climber. My boyfriend is huge into hardcore hiking and overnight camping. So... Our goal is to improve and mesh the two. We want to take on various national parks with a couple days hiking and various days ascending, once we gain enough experience!

But i was curious... I need a big pack for hiking, and I do have a huge haul bag. So maybe i could combine the two? It would work well for what we want to do, because i truly think i could fit camping and climbing gear into my haul bag. (But then again i never packed a backpack before so who knows?)

When we camp i usually tend to get all the light excess things he doesnt want to carry. Along with my bag and pad and own personal things.

Anyway i have a Black Diamond Zion Haul Bag.

PSA: Meteor shower peaking

Delta aquarids meteor shower best viewed around 2 hrs pre dawn*, both hemispheres, stronger in the south. Look towards constellation Aquarius for the radiant point.

https://time.com/5629513/watch-delta-aquarid-meteor-shower-2019/

*Article says 1 hr but get out a bit earlier for darker skies

This isn't an explosively incredible meteor shower, 1 shooting star every minute or so. Still, a beautiful phenomenon, especially for those in areas with dark sky and no clouds.

Happy viewing!

Wallow talkie radios for emergency response.

WALKIE TALKIE

Hello,
I’m looking for help on what too look for in a walkie talkie.

Our use:
Long range communication for emergency response teams in semi-mountainous terrain.
| ~20 mile coverage, 8+ radios, long battery, robust |

We have family members and friends that have had a lot of problems with robberies recently in their Villiage in Mexico.

The police are having communication problems and the radios that they are currently using are peices of shit (so I’ve heard), signal cuts out no more than 1/2 mile in straight sight.
We want to supply the local police with 8 radios to aid them in comms as well as a couple more for community use (posadas, hiking, walking the animals etc..)

I have not a clue on what to look for in a walkie talkie/ radio. A bit of searching I found that these two are highly reccomended for long range/survival use:
Motorola 350r and the Midland GXT1000VP4

Any help/suggestions are highly appreciated, thank you.
